AI Use Case Inventory

As part of the federal government’s commitment to responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption, agencies are required to maintain an AI Use Case Inventory (OMB M-25-21). This inventory should detail the agency’s current and planned AI use cases that are most impactful to the agency’s mission, operations, or service delivery.

The purpose of the inventory is to promote transparency, accountability, and effective AI governance. By documenting AI use cases, agencies can better assess the potential impacts and risks of AI, ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies, and facilitate the sharing of AI solutions across the government.
